Hadley and her beautiful cousin Rachel.
Boy oh boy, we have a toddler on our hands! Miss Hadley is so full of spunk and energy, she can hardly be contained! She is also hilarious and I love spending every possible second with her and Levi.
As I said, Hadley has a lot of energy and here are just a few ways that energy manifests itself:
• Hadley likes to tip furniture. She turns our little coffee table over, throws floor lamps to the ground (even breaking my mom's gorgeous
brand new lamp), overturns our ottoman, and throws all "baby" chairs across the room if we're ever in some sort of waiting room.
• She likes to pour out beverages. Sometimes this means pouring red cream soda all over my nook, or dumping a freshly opened diet pepsi all over the carpet. She absolutely loves it.
• She loves to get all the pan lids and cooking bowls out and throws them on the ground. She gets them spinning so they take a long time to stop rattling and she gets the biggest kick out of it when it sounds like a loud crash, then prolonged rattle as the pan lid shimmies back and forth until it finally lays flat, at which point she starts all over again. It can get very loud and I'm very grateful we live in a house with thick walls.
• She is obsessed with our computer and I can only have it on when she's asleep in her crib. She pulls the keyboard down and clicks the mouse over and over. If nothing happens on the computer screen, she'll get frustrated and start stomping on the keyboard. The more animated I am when I try to get her to stop, the funnier she thinks it is. Siggghhh.
These are just a few of the creative ways Hadley stays busy. I absolutely adore her though, and no amount of damage to our material possessions could make me love her any less.
Here are some other 20 month factoids:
• Hadley has an interesting way of communicating and it doesn't exactly include talking. She picks up on everything and says a few words, but overall she thinks talking is a waste of time :)
• She has her set foods that she likes and it can be quite difficult to get her to try anything else. Luckily, after hanging out with my mom's group, I don't feel so quite alone in this and it turns out that Hadley actually eats more variety than some of the other toddlers. Yay!
• She is so fun to take to places like the park and the zoo. Her curiosity is endless and she can spend hours inspecting things and trying them over and over again.
• She still loves her tv and movies, but plays well when I throw XM Radio on our
DirecTv. She especially likes the old Christmas station (she is definitely a girl of my own heart, loving Rat Pack and other swing Christmas music.)
• Her eyes have turned a GORGEOUS color, which defies description. They are blue on the outside, with a green/brown/yellow tint towards her pupil. I don't think there's even a color that describes it. They're not green, not hazel, and not even gray! I wish I could get a good picture of the color. Maybe I'll have Avery try to capture it on film before they change again.
• Her hair keeps growing and growing. I am not even tempted to cut it, as it is the cutest head of hair I've ever seen. Also, I'm scared her little curls won't grow back once they're cut :)
• Her right foot turns in, pigeon toed, but is nothing too serious (according to our fabulous pediatrician) and most likely she will outgrow it.
• She is getting more and more cuddly and likes to pat your arm or back when she's giving you a hug. I hope she's always such a snuggle bug!
