(I promise, the slideshow moves quickly. I hate slow slideshows.)
We're back from our trip to see the Red Sox play the Mariners. It was an absolutely fantastic trip. We got in early Friday morning and checked in at our hotel, which was a very cute Inn across the street from the Seattle Center. We spent that morning and afternoon wandering around and eating great food. That night we met up with Heather, Zane and the kids and went to batting practice. John Farrell, the pitching coach for the Red Sox, pointed at Wilson and tossed a ball to him. It was awesome! Then, Eliza was able to get a ball signed by first baseman Jeff Bailey. Score!
We had great seats along the third base line for Game 1. We barely lost that game, but no worries! That's the beauty of baseball. There's always the next game.
We spent Saturday shopping and visiting the CHEESE FESTIVAL!! Can you say yummy?? Free cheese & sunshine. I love it.
That night at the game was a night to be remembered. Levi's sorta-cousin Jamie Kotsay is married to Mark Kotsay of the Red Sox. She was at the game and was able to get two tickets for us to sit with her behind home plate. We were surrounded by other player's families and it was the most fun I've had in a long, long time. Jamie and her aunt Jana were absolute sweethearts. Seriously, I haven't met people that nice, well, ever! Jamie was so generous to us and she was so much fun to talk to. Behind us sat Jason Bay's family and I had the great fortune of meeting his wife, her sister, and more of their family. His wife & sister were so nice and we talked about everything ranging from baby names to tattoos. She really liked my white wrist tattoos that say "Mom's Girl" and she said she's thinking about getting one like it with her two girl's names.
After the game Jamie took us to meet Mark and that was also extremely surreal. He was a total gentleman and we talked for a little while and he even signed a ball for my niece and nephew. What a great guy! Jamie & him are an awesome couple.
We walked back to our hotel that night on a bit of a high. We couldn't believe our luck!! (Also, the Sox won. Yes!)
Jamie & Mark offered us tickets for the next game on Sunday afternoon, even though Jamie would be flying out that morning. We gladly took them up on it and were so stoked to be able to catch the third game. It was a beautiful day, about 73 degrees and we could have died right then and there and been the happiest two people on the planet. Jason Bay's family sat in front of us this time and I had the good fortune of talking to his grandparents-in-law for a bit. They told me when we got up to leave that we were the "best fans." Wow! Thanks! Jacoby Ellsbury's family sat right next to us and they were so adorable. They were all wearing his shirt and they just looked so cute.
Jeff Bailey's family sat behind us and we talked to them about what a great job Jeff has been doing. They were so polite and so fun to talk to. One of the women in his family and I almost punched a fan for heckling Jeff while he was up at bat. Jeff immediately hit a single and that shut the guy up before we had to :)
Unfortunately we were only able to meet up with Heather, Zane and the kids on Friday and Saturday but it was still a blast seeing them for whatever time we could. Eliza and Wilson were so in love with watching the game. They have just become baseball's newest fanatics!
We left on Sunday afternoon knowing that we had just finished the greatest vacation ever. We had walked all over Seattle for three straight days and our legs were so sore they felt like jelly, but I wouldn't have traded a single moment of it for anything. It will be near impossible to beat this trip to Seattle. Thank you to all who made it special.
